Ayumi has danced in three countries: US, Japan, and Spain. She mainly dances Jazz and Tap, but has also studied Sevillanas, Flamenco, Ballet and Hip Hop. Ayumi started with ballet when she was figure skating, but soon thereafter switched to jazz. She used to do competitive jazz dance in San Diego, where she grew up, with the San Diego Dance Centre. Then she moved to Tokyo and worked with the Hiromi Dance Company. Ayumi was also on the dance team at her high school in Tokyo, ICU High, where their team won a national competition in which she helped choreograph. She then moved to Barcelona and started working with Coco Comin Escola de Dansa i Comedia Musical, where she started Sevillanas, Flamenco, and Ballet. Coco Comin is the choreographer in musicals that would be the Broadway of Spain, doing national productions like Fame and Grease. Ayumi is now located in Amherst studying at the University of Massachusetts and dancing in her spare time.
